A “Green Venusaur” pressed pill is an illicit street tablet shaped or stamped with the Pokémon character Venusaur, marketed as ecstasy (MDMA), but illicit pills carry extreme unpredictability and severe health risks. [1]
Content and Composition Risks
- Variable Ingredients: Street pills stamped with popular logos are produced in unregulated environments. They lack standardized manufacturing processes or quality control. [1]
- Unknown Potency: Even if a pill contains MDMA, the concentration can vary significantly, ranging from low levels to excessive concentrations that far exceed what the body can safely process. [1, 2]
- Substitutes and Adulterants: Tablets sold with specific visual designs frequently contain hazardous substitutes instead of, or mixed with, MDMA. These may include synthetic cathinones, PMA, or PMMA. Some of these substances are exceptionally toxic and have a delayed onset, which significantly increases the risk of a fatal overdose as users may mistakenly believe the pill is ineffective.
